So we know that fencing had a part to play in the development of JKD.
What other sporting activities have you guys found to help make your JKD training better?

Also, who are some people that have advanced JKD technique or otherwise and made improvements. I've never heard anybody discuss this.
You hear about those who are carring the torch but nothing about those who create.

The torch helps you see your own creation...YES?

saftey is so importatnt too, as all the instructors who came to our school, both jkd and wing chun used to stress!! so important saftey is in working with people and working on your own equipment.

Fencing theory is an important part of the later stage of JKD. Some of the things that come from it are:
The stop hit
The 5 ways of attack
Stealing a step
PIA
Decieving the parry
The hammer principle

What is stealing a step? We have a close called steal a step in my MA. I wonder if it is the same?

I've never heard of deceiving the parry either. What is that technique?
Thanks.

I'm afraid that it's too hard for me to answer in words alone. It's something that you need to have an instructor show it to you in person. There's a lot of stuff like that. I just can't seem to explain it without showing it. It's the same when I read something on another fourm that explains something like the straight blast. I start reading it then I have no idea what they're talking about. Try and make it to next years camp and I'll be glad to shoe you.

Unless you're a horse, I think I'll show you instead of shoe you.

HA HA HA Fair enough Tim!
So do I not have to be a student of a Jeet Kune Do school to come to the camp? Sweet!

Anyone is welcome to come to the camp. This year's camp had a lot of Krav Maga as well as TKD students.
