View Full Version : elbow probs
Howdy all. Ive been in JKD for just a short time now and have deloped a problem with my lead elbow. I think this is from a combo of the "throw a lead while springing closer to your opponent" and holding a focus mitt improperly. It doesnt hurt where one would typically find pain say from overextending the arm, but more inside. If you feel underneath your elbow there are two bones, (one of them is almost the inside of the arm) mine hurts right in between the two. In the last week and a half, all I have done is swim laps, no weight training or JKD. The only thing that make it even temporarily better is to soak in warm water/ epsom salt. Also to leave a wrap on it. Iceing it make it hurt alot worse, and sends a pain up my forearm all the way to my fingertips.
Has anyone experienced this? What did you do for it?

I'd say keep up the warm soaks, and rest the arm. The joint could just be inflamed. (hopefully) Ice it only to bring swelling down.
If it doesn't feel better in a week or two I'd advise a Doctor visit who does sports med. and have him look at it. Hopefully its not a tear or pull.
I get shoulder issues sometimes if I hit into something a little too solid too long or get tourqued grappling and it can take a few weeks to clear up.

goto your local healthfood store and pick up some DMSO use that but for gods sake dont wrap it after you put it on your you will get a chemical burn. and if you cant find DMSO goto your local feedstore they make a joint compound for horses, once again do not wrap it after the application of it. using those products will repair any cellular damage and get you back to new. ive used it quite some time and so has my JKD instructor Jeremy Lynch. if you doubt me ask tackett im sure he'd agree.
im using it right now for my ankle. ive used it for shin splints and elbow problems as well. always worked!
good luck man

A snippet from a DMSO article:
Others cite DMSO's principal side effect: an odd odor, akin to that of garlic, that emanates from the mouth shortly after use, even if use is through the skin.
I was wondering if you had experienced this. I want to get better, but not that bad. 8)
