Can anyone suggest a way to make flexability work for the older guy.
I stretch and seem to loose elasticity as fast as I gain it.
I'm 55 so any tips are very welcomed.

Thanks Kindly

John

Try to just warm up good and not so much on the stretch.

Tai Chi is good at keeping things moving too. I got my father to try it instead of JKD. Its less impact and good to get and maintain active joints, etc.

I've heard it refered to like golf is, its a good investment because you can keep doing it all through your life.

We have a guy in his 70s in our JKD group. He has a bad hip an substitutes a CANE for his kicking.

Most JKD movements shouldn't be puching your limits on flexability honestly.

I'm 64 and it's hard to remain flexable and it takes much longer to to heal from an injury. I find it best to stretch, punch and kick in a swimming pool. I try to get to the YMCA about 4 or 5 times a week. I lift weights and then hit the pool.

Man! how could I miss the pool... lol :?

Jacques Cousteau had a bad injury before he became the underwater explorer.

He would swim in the ocean each day to get back strength and flexability.
This grew into his love affair with the Ocean. The rest is history...

They also have people who are recovering from injurys work out in the pool as a part of their therapy now...

Good call Tim.

Hold a core ball when you stretch as it helps to balance the body and avoid one sided stretching.
