It seems to me that throat strikes are the kind of strikes that would end an encounter quickly. However they seem kind of dangerous. What are your opoinions on throat strikes or neck strikes in general. I've seen internet footage of a man stirking another man with a round line hand attack to the side of the neck and the guy went down fast. This is the kind of strikes that I am most interested in. The "End a fight fast" kind.

If you can hit any part of the neck, go for it.

Yeah, I guess so!
Thanks. This is really quite simple whenyou get down to it.
Do you find that people make martial arts out to be more difficult than they actually are?

Too many are just interested in fancy tricks. It's all about a few things done well. Bruce told Bremer that the best way to win the fight is to just reach over ond knock the guy out. This is our main emphasis.

You can strike with the ridgehand in a downward motion on the side of the neck. You can stick the top 2 fingers in the Adam's Apple (like bottom of throat) or near it and push hard. You can grab 2 fingers on the throat or make thumb and fingers on each side of throat and grab, tilt the head back, and rip out the windpipe. You can have the last knuckle of each finger sticking out and punch to the throat. There are also pressure points and probably moves to knock out the opponent, but those can get too fancy.

If you're tied up with a grapple and can't get a clean shot even just poking in the front of the neck will get most people to react somehow.

Grabbing a persons mouth closed and just jiggling thier adams apple will cause many people to quietly dround in their own vomit (minus the thrashing). Getting jumped by a junkie or drunk and resorting to this... less law suits for their family to hit you with than beating them to death to save yourself. Sick and wrong but true.

I have used throat strikes in a fight. Against a fully adrenalized attacker, you may as well try a flyswatter. They work better as part of a series of strikes rather than a "be all" fight ender. I've found that dumping them on their back often has a better effect. The same guy that took numerous headbutts to the face(breaking his nose),and a throat strike, lost his will to continue when I landed the big sidekick that dropped him on his butt! I was surprised that after training for the knee,I still threw it at his midsection... Guess those old "Karate" reflexes die hard!

Ouch, any other patrons get hit as he landed?

The fine line with bouncing and bodyguard work is to stop, contain, and control without launching them into other patrons and other breakables around the control action. While limiting the liability you expose yourself and employer too.

Being dropped does effect them, sometimes, but a big kick to the torso normally propells them away from you and into others. It also open up all sorts of law suits. The guy you kicked, the guys he hits, the table that falls on someone else, the owner and property damage...

If you can remove the problem and no one outside of 3 feet from the disturbance even knows it happened. That is ideal. Its also why you work in teams, one big guy who looks like the threat to the hostle patron and the quite guy that slides up and shuts him down before he knows what happened.

One ex-bouncer I knew kept a big plastic baggy in his pocket. He would slip up to them them an POP the bag over their head. Pass them out and drag them out the back door. No air, no fight, no matter how drunk, drugged or juced they are. I think he lost his job after one of the people didn't wake up. Again a fine line...

Then again if your alive at the end of the night you can go wrong there... lol

Well first off I think putting a plastic bag over a persons head is just plain dangerous. Definetly life or death circumstance. But I do agree that it wold be effective.
I like the idea of keeping someones moth closed and causing them to drown in their own vomit. I had never thought of that. But can you really cause a person to vomit by jiggling their adams apple?
Secondly, I don't beleive that you can rip a persons throat out with your bare hands. I do body removal for a living and I go to all kinds of accident scenes so I've seen human bodies that have been struck by trains, airplane crashes etc..
Skin is very stretchy and durable to blunt objects like fingers. I just don't see how a person could rip a throat out.
Now crushing that's a different story. I think you could crush the wind pipe or rupture small veins.

I didn't say I like or approved of the bag... Just that I knew of it.

As far as the vomit...
Go to the bath room and bend over the toilet...
Take your own hand and start manipulating your adams apple...

Lightly put your hand on the adams apple like is was a thumb to side of index finger pintch, start to gentaly ossilate the adams apple back and forth slowly apply a little more pressure...

It can have the same effect as putting your finger in your throat. Once you get the pressure and the giggle rightyou'll feel the light cramp at the back of your jaw that indicates a pending release in some people. Keep it up a few more seconds and you'll be tasting bile.

I've even used it on my self when I needed to induce myself to vomit something bad up. If you do it too rought it will hurt the throat. It doesn't seem to take too much work to get the gag reflex to fire.

Hell some drunks will loose it just by suggesting to them that they need to puke.

Gross stuff... next topic please...lol

Yeah it is gross but I think we're discussing it in an adult and scientific kind of way and not abusing this forum, correct?
